Muuto News

The Muuto name comes from muutos, meaning new perspective in Finnish, and describes the very core of the brands approach to modern Scandinavian design. They handpick leading contemporary designers that are strong interpreters of their philosophy, and combine their talents with the passionate Muuto creative team.

This years first round of fresh Muuto designs present Outline Sofa Chaise Longue by Norwegian designers Andersen & Voll, Mimic Mirror by French designer duo Normal Studio, Loft Bar Stool by Danish designer Thomas Bentzen, Fiber Armchair Front Upholstery by Iskos-Berlin and four new colors to the family of The Dots Coat Hooks by Lars Tornøe, as well as they also introduce the new color Plum on the Airy Table by Cecilie Manz, along with the Loft Chair now being available in upholstery versions.

A new addition to the Outline Series by Andersen & Voll. Building on the existing Outline design that embodies elegant and uncompromising Scandinavian design is the latest member of the sofa family The Outline Sofa Chaise Longue. Powder coated aluminum legs, wood and steel construction, cold foam filling and with all textiles from Kvadrat or Arve. Leather is from Camo Leathers. Sway Throw by Tina Ratzer, Airy Halfsize Coffee Table by Cecilie Manz in the new color Plum, Ply Rug by Margrethe Odgaard,

The Dots design by Lars Tornøe is introduced in four new colors; Plum, Pale Blue, Clay Brown and Beige-Green. Each unique on its own, the new colors are fresh breaths of air to the existing Dots color palette. Alongside a new size extra small is added to the Dots Family.

The idea for Mimic Mirror was sparked by the ordinary plastic mirrors that Normal Studio’s Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï often saw in barber shops around Paris. The mirrors usually had a plastic pattern sculpted on their back, prompting the duo to translate this visual element into their own design language. Mimic Mirror is designed with a base pillar, sculpted in cement, on which the mirror is positioned, encased in coated plastic.

The Loft Bar Stool by Danish designer Thomas Bentzen exemplifies honest, simple design. Using materials as an aesthetic touchpoint, the Loft Bar Stool is created with careful attentions to details through contrasting materials: here, its solid, powder coated steel base is offset with a warm plywood, shaped to accustom the body of its user.

The Fiber family of chairs has a distinct appearance with its shell created from a composite of wood and plastic fibers. As the wood fibers are visible throughout the shell, the Fiber Armchair has a textural feel alongside a matte, soft finish and an easy touch. Adding to the family of Fiber is the Fiber Armchair Front Upholstery. Here, the design combines the tactile, elegant feel of the shell with the extensive comfort of textile and leather upholstery.
