Maison & Objet Paris 2018
The renowned Danish designer Cecilie Manz have a diploma in object and furniture design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, and moved to Finland to study at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. In 1998 she founded her own studio in the heart of Copenhagen, and not unlike other Danish designers the balance between civilization and nature is vital in her creative process. More than a style, the Scandinavian approach she defends reflects the actual lifestyle of these countries. Cecilie Manz designs furniture, glass, lamps and related products, mainly for the home. In addition to her work with industrial products, her experimental prototypes and more sculptural one-offs make up an important part of her work and approach: – I view all my works as fragments of one big, ongoing story where the projects are often linked or related in terms of their idea, materials and aesthetics, across time and function. Some objects remain experiments or sculpted ideas, others are made more concrete and turn into functional tools, Cecilie Manz explains. Maison & Objet Paris 2018 has elected Cecilie Manz Designer of the Year to honor her talent and outstanding design. Maison & Objet Paris 2018 lasts from January 19 – 23.
